Plan your book

The order of work for a Keepsake book: write and finish stories, shape the design as you go, then check, proof and order it.

Updated

You don't assemble a Keepsake book at the end. It's in your project's Book tab from the start, and it fills up as stories are finished. You can shape its design whenever you like and print it when it feels ready. This page gives the order most people follow, with a link to each step.

The owner and admins shape and print the book. Writers and viewers can look through it at any time. See How your book works.

Write and finish stories

Everything starts with the stories. When a story is finished, it goes into the book in its chapter. Drafts stay out until they're finished. See Which stories go in your book and Finish a story.

Shape the design as you go

In the Book tab, Your book walks through six steps, in the order they appear in the printed book. Nothing here needs to be final. You can come back to any step as often as you like.

Arrange the order

Chapters and stories print in the order the Content view shows. You can change it at any time. See Change the order of chapters and stories.

Check, proof and order

When the book feels ready:

  1. Run through Check your book is ready to print.
  2. In the Book tab, go to Print. Build a proof, look through every page, then approve it. See Prepare and proof your book.
  3. Choose copies and delivery, then pay. See Order a printed book.

Nothing prints and nothing is charged until you order.

After you print

You can keep writing. The copies you've printed stay as they were, and the book carries on with new stories. When there's enough for another book, you can start the next volume. See Book volumes.
