Set a finish date and pace
Give your Keepsake book a date to aim for, or set how many stories a week to write and let Keepsake suggest one. It's a target, not a deadline.
The owner and admins can do this.
Updated
A finish date gives the whole book something to aim for, such as a birthday or Christmas. It isn't a deadline: nothing happens when it passes, and you can change it any time. Everyone in the project can see it, and Keepsake shows whether you're on track.
Writers and viewers see the date but can't change it. If there's no date yet, ask the project owner or an admin.
Pick a date
Open Finish date
In the project, go to Settings and choose Finish date.
Choose Pick a date
Choose Pick a date. A calendar opens.
Choose the day
Choose the day. Under the calendar, Keepsake says how long there is to go and how many stories a week it would take.
Save it
Choose Save.
You can also start from the project's Overview tab: choose Set a finish date, then Pick an exact date, choose the day, and choose Apply.
The earliest date you can pick is tomorrow.
Set a pace and let Keepsake suggest a date
If you'd rather decide how fast to write:
Choose Set a pace
In Settings > Finish date, choose Set a pace.
Check the writers and the goal
Check how many writers are sharing the work and how many stories you're aiming for. You can change either number.
Choose a pace
Drag the slider to choose how many stories a week each writer will write. Keepsake suggests a finish date.
Save it
Choose Save.
The number of stories comes from each chapter's goal. If the chapters don't have goals yet, set those first. See Set chapter goals and track progress.
See how you're doing
- Overview shows Aiming to finish with the date and the time left. Choose it to see the details.
- Settings > Finish date shows the date, a progress bar of finished stories and drafts, and how many stories a week it would take, with a note such as "A steady pace." or "That's a real push."
- Your home page shows "Finishing by" and the month on the project's card, with a short note on the pace.
Only finished stories count. Drafts show as in progress.
Change or clear the date
In Settings > Finish date, choose Pick a date or Set a pace to change it, or Clear date to remove it. After clearing, a message offers Undo for a few seconds.
If the date passes before the book is done, nobody is told. The settings say Time for a new date: books often take longer than planned. Choose Pick a new date to keep going.
