I can't edit or add to a project
Why you might not be able to write, change or add stories in a Keepsake project, and what to do about it, from your role to a plan that has ended.
Updated
If you can read a project but can't write in it, or a button is greyed out, nothing you've written is lost. Here's why it happens, most common first.
You were invited to read, not write
Viewers can read every story and comment, but can't start or change stories. A story says Read only in the bar at the top, and there's no Start writing in the Entries tab. Ask the project owner to make you a writer. See Roles and what each person can do.
The owner's plan has ended
The project shows Writing is paused, and Start writing is greyed out for everyone. Everything can still be read. Only the project owner can renew the plan. If that's you, see What happens if your plan ends. If it isn't, let the owner know.
It's someone else's story
Writers can change the stories they added, not other people's. Ask the person who wrote it, or the owner or an admin. You can still leave a comment. See Comment on a story.
The story is in the trash
A deleted story says This story is in the trash and can't be changed until it's restored. See Delete and restore stories and chapters.
It's something only the owner and admins do
Chapters, the book's design, printing, people and most project settings are for the owner and admins. If you need a change, ask them. See Project settings.
The story says Can't connect
Keepsake can't reach the story right now. Check your internet connection, then refresh the page.
