Accessing Group Chat

Open your project page

Navigate to any project you're collaborating on

Click the Chat tab

Start chatting

See who's online and begin your conversation

Chat interface shows:

  • Online member count 2 online • 2 members
  • Full message history
  • Real-time updates as messages arrive
  • Thread indicators for organised discussions

Core Chat Features

Basic Messaging

Type your message

Click in the text box and type your message

Type and send messages instantly

Message appears instantly for all members with delivery confirmation


Message Management

Editing Messages

Right-click your own message, select Edit, make corrections, and save changes. Message shows Edited indicator. Only you can edit your own messages.

Deleting Messages

Right-click your message, select Delete, and confirm. Message is permanently removed for everyone immediately.

Copying Messages

Right-click any message and select Copy Message to save important dates, names, or details to your clipboard.

Viewing Timestamps

Hover or right click to see relative time (2 hours ago)


Notification System

You get notified when:

  • Someone tags you with @yourname
  • Someone replies to your message
  • Someone reacts to your message
  • New messages while you're away
  • Important announcements posted

Chat Organisation Tips

Use threads for topics

Keep discussions about specific subjects in their own threads

Tag strategically

Only tag when you genuinely need someone's input

React instead of reply

Use reactions for simple acknowledgments instead of "thanks" messages

Edit don't spam

Fix typos with edit rather than sending corrections

Check before asking

Scroll up to see if your question was already answered

Troubleshooting

Check your internet connection, refresh the browser (Cmd/Ctrl + R), ensure you're in the correct project, or clear browser cache if persistent.

Verify they're a project member, check they haven't left the project, try typing their full name, and ensure @ symbol is used.

Look for send confirmation, check for error messages, try refreshing if stuck, and verify internet connection.

Yes, all messages are saved permanently. Members see the full chat history when they next log in, with unread indicators.

Currently, you need to scroll through chat history manually.

No, chat messages are for coordination only. They never appear in your final printed book.
