Navigate to their project

Access the project where you're a collaborator

2

Go to any chapter

Select the chapter most relevant to your question

3

Create the custom question

Follow the same process as above, but consider adding a note explaining why you're curious about this topic

4

Queue the question

Select Queue Question to add it to their queue. They'll see your name as the person who added it.

Queue for
collaborator

Queue the question for your collaborator to answer later
Tip

Use notes to provide context like "Dad always mentioned this story but I never heard the full version" or "Would love to know more about your time in Madrid".

Best Practices for Custom Questions

Be Specific

Instead of "Tell me about work", try "What was your first day at the Melbourne office like?"

Add Context

Use notes to explain why you're asking or what prompted your curiosity

Match the Depth

Choose the right question length based on how much detail you're hoping for

Personal Touch

Reference specific family stories, places, or traditions unique to your experience

Common Questions

Once queued or answered, custom questions cannot be edited. You can hide other user's custom questions or delete and recreate any you've added if needed.

There's no limit to custom questions. Add as many as you need to tell your complete story.

Custom questions are visible to all project collaborators. They can see who added each question.
