My photos look blurry in the proof
Why a photo can look soft or blurry in your Keepsake proof, and how to make it print sharper: a bigger copy, a smaller size, or Enhance.
Updated
If a photo looks soft or blurry in your proof, it will look much the same in print. The good news is that it can usually be fixed before you order. The proof shows every page exactly as it will print.
The photo is too small for its size on the page
This is the most common reason. Open the story's Photos: a photo marked Okay quality or Poor quality is small for the space it takes up. See Get a good print: photos and proof checks.
- Use a bigger copy. Add the original photo from your phone or camera, rather than one saved from a message or social media.
- Show it smaller. Change it to Medium or Small. See Resize and place photos in a story.
- Enhance it. Enhance photo can add detail. See Enhance a photo.
It's an old or scanned photo
Scan the print again at a high setting, rather than taking a photo of it. Enhance photo can also sharpen old photos and restore blurry faces.
It's the cover photo
The cover prints much larger than a photo in a story, so it needs a bigger photo. Cover Studio shows a label for how it will print. See Design your cover.
After you've fixed it
The proof says Your book changed since this proof. Choose Rebuild proof, check the page again, then approve it. See Prepare and proof your book.
Still stuck?
Email support@keepsakeproject.co before you approve the proof, and include:
- The name of the project
- The page number in the proof
- The original photo, if you have it
