Delete your account or your data
How to ask us to delete your Keepsake account or send a copy of your data, what to include, and what happens to stories you wrote in other people's projects.
Last reviewed
To delete your Keepsake account, or to ask for a copy of your data, email us. There isn't a button for either in Settings, so we do it for you. We may ask you to confirm the request is from you. Deleting an account can't be undone.
Ask us to delete your account
Email support@keepsakeproject.co from the address you sign in with. Tell us:
- that you want your account deleted
- your name, and the email you sign in with
- whether you also want a copy of your data first
If you pay for a plan, cancel it first so you aren't charged again. See Cancel your plan.
What happens when your account is deleted
- Your account and personal details are deleted within 30 days of your request. Backups clear within 90 days.
- Projects you own: tell us what you'd like to happen to them, especially if others still write in them. We'll talk it through with you before anything is deleted.
- Stories and photos you added to other people's projects stay in those projects, so their books stay whole.
- Billing and tax records are kept for as long as the law requires.
- Printed books that have already been made can't be recalled.
A copy of your data
Ask us at support@keepsakeproject.co and we'll send you a copy of your personal information.
You can also keep your own copies at any time:
- Download any photo from a story's Photos: open its menu and choose Download.
- Every printed book has an eBook, a PDF of the whole book. See Get the eBook.
Deleting smaller things
You don't need to delete your account to remove a story, a photo or a chapter. See Delete and restore stories and chapters and Delete and restore photos.
To stop paying but keep your stories, cancel your plan instead. Your projects stay, read only. See What happens if your plan ends.
