Delete and restore stories and chapters
Move a Keepsake story to the trash, bring back a story or chapter from Deleted items, or delete one for good. Who can do each, and what comes back.
The owner, admins and writers can do this.

When you delete a story, it goes to the trash, not away for good. It waits in Deleted items, in the project's settings, for 30 days, so you can bring it back. Deleted chapters wait there too, with their stories. After 30 days, they're removed for good.

Delete a story
Open the story's settings
Open the story, then choose the gear in the bar at the top, labelled Entry settings.
Move it to the trash
At the bottom, choose Move to trash…. A popup asks you to confirm.
Confirm
Choose Move to trash. The story leaves its chapter and the book, and goes to Deleted items.
You can also delete a story from its card in the Entries tab: open the card's menu and choose Move to trash.
Deleting a story needs the project owner's plan to be active. To delete a chapter, see Create and organise chapters.
Bring back a story
Open Deleted items
In the project, go to Settings and choose Deleted items.
Find the story
Deleted stories are listed by chapter. To find one, type in Search stories and chapters. Choose a story to read it first.
Restore it
Choose Restore next to the story. A message offers Undo if you change your mind.
The story comes back as a draft, in the chapter it was in. To put it back in the book, finish it again. See Finish a story.
If you open a deleted story from an old link, it says This story is in the trash. Choose Restore story to bring it back.
Bring back a chapter
In Deleted items, deleted chapters are listed first, with their stories under them. Choose Restore chapter. The chapter comes back with all its stories, as drafts. Only the owner and admins can bring back a chapter.
A chapter with nothing in it is deleted for good straight away, so it doesn't appear here.
Delete for good
Open Deleted items
In Settings, choose Deleted items.
Choose the bin
Choose the bin next to the story. For a chapter, choose Delete chapter on the chapter.
Confirm
Choose Delete for good.
Only the owner and admins can delete for good.
Deleted photos and earlier versions
- A photo deleted from a story goes to that story's Recently deleted instead. See Delete and restore photos.
