The Australian alternative to Remento for creating beautiful memory books.
Remento is a US-based platform with USD pricing and international shipping times of 21+ days to Australia. Keepsake is designed and built in Meanjin, priced in AUD, with books printed locally and delivered in 5-7 business days.
Is Remento Available in Australia? What Australian Families Should Know
Remento is a US-based memory book platform gaining popularity worldwide. But for Australian families considering a Remento alternative, there are important differences in pricing, shipping, and how the platform handles your stories.
Can You Use Remento from Australia?
Yes, Remento accepts sign-ups from Australia. You can record stories, build your book, and order a printed copy. However, Remento is built for the American market. All pricing is in USD, customer support operates on US business hours, and books ship internationally from the United States. For Australian families, that means paying in a foreign currency, waiting three weeks or more for delivery, and potentially facing customs charges on arrival.
The base subscription is US$99 per year, which works out to roughly A$155 to A$165 depending on exchange rates. Additional book copies cost US$69 (around A$110), plus international shipping fees. These costs add up quickly when you factor in currency conversion charges from your bank.
Why Australian Families Look for a Local Alternative
Creating a memory book is personal. The last thing you want is to fight with currency conversions and shipping delays while trying to preserve your family’s stories. A platform built for Australian families should feel local, not like an afterthought bolted onto a US product.
When your memory book platform is based overseas, simple things become harder. Support replies arrive overnight instead of during your day. Pricing fluctuates with the exchange rate. A book ordered for a birthday in December might not arrive until January. These aren’t dealbreakers on their own, but together they create friction that a locally built platform eliminates entirely.
What to Look for in an Australian Remento Alternative
Not all Remento alternatives solve the same problems. If you’re based in Australia, here’s what matters most:
AUD pricing with no conversion fees. A platform that charges in Australian dollars means the price you see is the price you pay. No surprises on your credit card statement, no fluctuation between sign-up and renewal.
Local printing and fast shipping. Books printed in Australia arrive in days, not weeks. No customs paperwork, no import duties, and no anxious tracking of a parcel crossing the Pacific.
A book that works without a phone. Remento’s books rely on QR codes linked to their servers. If those servers change or go offline, the audio and video in your book stops working. A standalone printed book with your full stories in text and photos will still be readable in fifty years, no app required.
Writing and recording, not just recording. Remento is voice-only, which works for some families but leaves out anyone who prefers to write. The best Australian memory book platforms let you choose how you tell your story, whether that’s typing, dictating, or combining both with photos and rich formatting.

The Lake House
The lake house was a two-story weatherboard that leaned slightly to the left, as if the wind off the water had been pushing it for decades. Grandpa bought it in the seventies when land out there cost almost nothing. By the time we were old enough to remember, the paint was peeling and the screen door never quite closed, but none of that mattered. The jetty out the back was half-rotten but we'd still fish off it every afternoon, catching nothing and caring less. Nights were the best part. We'd drag the old couch cushions onto the veranda and lie there counting satellites.
Every summer we’d pack the car before dawn. Dad always insisted on making his terrible coffee first. The drive took three hours but felt like minutes with the windows down and the radio on. We’d pull up to the lake house just as the sun hit the water, and Mum would already be planning lunch before we’d even unpacked. The kids would run straight to the dock.
